VACATION HOME  > PAGE  5

Saturday we will travel to the Estero for lunch.
We know it as an estuary and it is used as a perfectly
protected place to set out permanent cages to grow
Ostiones
(oysters) and clams. We can choose this sweet,
tender delicacy, grown and harvested mere yards from where
they are prepared and served or from many other selections
of fresh seafood.

Afterward it is on to New Kino to visit the Seri Indian Museum and
some of the street vendors in the area. This is a wonderful opportunity
to shop for Ironwood carvings and baskets from the Seris.
The Seri Indians created this art and depict indigenous animals
and plants. Sea Turtles, Dolphins and Sea Lions are most common
They are the finest although many of the Mexican made carvings
are beautiful too! The Seri baskets are among the finest in the
world and if you can find one the price will reflect the scarcity.
Later, Happy Hour will dissolve into our Fiesta!  We will prepare
Paella on the beach or at Mariscos Judy and truly savor
another blissful night in this wonderful little town.

Sunday
morning will bring the opportunity for some fishing for those
of us who are so inclined.  (weather permitting, extra charge)
Afternoon will be leisurely followed by Happy Hour,
and a fantastic fresh, Shrimp O’ Rama of boiled and deep fried
shrimp on the beach at our friend Zanahoria’s
seaside café, Mariscos Judy.

Monday
morning we will board our vehicle for the ride
home. Continental breakfast will be served on board.
This portion of our adventure will feature a stop
in the bustling capital city of Hermosillo for a visit
to the traditional  Municipal Market in the old downtown.
You will love the huge cathedral in the city square where we will
also tour the Palacio Gobernador,Municipal Market in Hermosillo, Sonora, Mexico (the Governor's Palace.
The walls throughout are lavished with murals depicting the
history of Sonora.  We will visit some of the other unique
stores nearby and have a late lunch on the way home
at one of our favorite places of the entire route, el Oasis.
Just a small, simple roadside Mexican truck stop, the food is
outstanding! Our adventure will end back at
Cuisine Classique in the late afternoon.
